1962 Buick
When it arrived, sitting on the trailer, this car didn't look that bad. But lurking below the surface was filler…lots and lots of filler. As we started the process of removing the filler, we weren't sure if we'd ever hit metal. In some cases we didn't.
As you can see in the pictures we then went about the process of getting it right. We meticulously cut, fit and welded in new metal, added a little filler to smooth things out, and got everything under a nice coat of primer, ready for some finish paint. That's the way it should be done.
By the way, this was the point at which the project was supposed to end. Wouldn't you know it, the customer saw the work and was so pumped he decided to have a "few' more things done: paint the car, put on a new convertible top, re-chrome the bumpers, install new carpet and seats, spray on a coat of undercoat, and work out a few mechanical issues under the hood. Who knows this project may move up the list to a full restoration project.
